14-Year-Old Yagiz Kaan Erdogmus Breaks Into the World Top 50!!
A remarkable milestone for one of chess’s fastest-rising talentsFeatured is an instructive chess game between 14-year-old Turkish phenom Yagiz Kaan Erdogmus and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave from their Clash of Generations II match. The game follows the Ruy Lopez Exchange variation, where we observe pawn majorities by move 8. Erdogmus's early focus is on restricting MVL’s knight, which finds itself short on squares throughout. By move 18, Erdogmus has already obtained a sizeable advantage and converts it with ease. His healthy kingside pawn majority proves decisive. Erdogmus went on to win the 6-game classical match with a score of 3.5–2.5, gaining 11 rating points and moving firmly into the World Top 50 in the live ratings at #47.
