About me

My name is Alina Mihailova, I'm 21 y.o. I’m a Woman FIDE Master (WFM) from Moldova, currently rated 2031 FIDE. I started playing chess at an age of 7 and it has been part of my life ever since. I’m passionate about sharing the beauty and logic of chess with others.

Playing experience

I am the Women’s Champion of Moldova (2023) and a member of the Moldovan national team.
I represented my country at the Chess Olympiads in Chennai 2022 and Budapest 2024, earning my WFM title in 2022.
Earlier in my career, I ranked among the Top 10 girls in the World Under-18 Championship (Romania, Mamaia, 2022).
Over the years, I’ve participated in numerous European and World Youth Championships and many international tournaments across 17 countries.

Teaching experience

I have 2–3 years of coaching experience, both online and offline. Most of my students have been children and young players, whom I helped build tactical strength and disciplined thinking.
I teach in English, Russian, and Romanian, and I always adapt my approach to the student’s style, personality, and goals.

Best skills

My main chess strengths are calculation, tactical awareness, and dynamic play. I enjoy sharp, creative positions where precision and initiative matter most.
As a coach, I’m known for patience, clarity in explanations, and the ability to help students truly understand chess ideas, not just memorize moves.

Teaching methodology

I focus on improving calculation, tactical vision, and positional understanding through structured lessons and practical examples.
Typical lessons include:
Analysis of the student’s own games;
Targeted training on openings, middlegames, or endgames;
Solving tactical and strategic exercises;
Personalized homework and feedback after each session.

My goal is to make every student a confident, creative, and independent chess thinker — ready to fight for the initiative and enjoy the game.
